Every Reforged rig is put together in our Orewa, Auckland workshop, stress tested for 48 hours, and sold with our own return-to-base warranty and Windows 11 Pro activated.

Mixing in a carefully chosen pre-owned part is how we get more performance into a rig for the money. High-end parts, graphics cards especially, lose value fast. A pre-owned card one generation old can cost far less than its replacement and still run today's games at 1440p. Everything around it can be new.

How we check the pre‑owned parts

A pre-owned part only goes into a Reforged build after it passes all four checks, in this order.

  1. Inspection

    We look for wear, damage, corrosion and signs of a hard life. Anything doubtful is rejected.

  2. Cleaning and fresh thermal paste

    Dust comes out of the heatsink and fans, and old paste is replaced so the part runs cool and quiet.

  3. Testing on its own

    We test it for stability, temperatures and condition before it goes anywhere near a build.

  4. 48 hours in the finished system

    Once the rig is built, we load the CPU and GPU hard for two full days and watch temperatures and stability the whole time, so a fault that a quick test would miss turns up on our bench, not at your place.

Reforged, New, Open Box or Used: what's the difference?

Every listing shows one of these four conditions and its own warranty. Whatever the condition, every system we sell is stress tested for 48 hours before it ships.

New
Every part is brand new. We assemble it and stress test it for 48 hours.

Reforged
Mostly new parts, plus one or two pre-owned parts that have been inspected, cleaned and tested. Stress tested for 48 hours.
Warranty 6 to 24 months
Open Box
Parts that have been out of their packaging but show little or no use. Inspected, then stress tested for 48 hours.
Warranty 12 months
Used
A pre-owned system that we strip down, clean inside and out, repaste, rebuild with drivers up to date, and stress test for 48 hours.
Warranty 6 to 12 months

The warranty on the listing is the one you get. It is in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act.

Why choose Reforged?

Compared with an all-new build

Reforged usually gets you a faster graphics card or more memory for the same money, while most of the system is still brand new.

Compared with a private sale

A second-hand PC from Marketplace can look fine in photos and still have a tired power supply or a card that was mined on for two years. If it fails a month later, you are on your own. With a Reforged rig, we have already checked the pre-owned parts, and if anything fails during the warranty, we arrange collection at our cost, repair or replace the faulty part, and send it back.

Who Reforged suits, and who it doesn't

Reforged is a good fit if you want the most frame rate per dollar without buying a whole second-hand machine, or you are after a 1440p or high-refresh rig on a mid-range budget.

If you want every part brand new with the longest warranty, pick a rig marked New. Every one carries a 24 month warranty. If price matters most, our Used rigs get the full strip-down and rebuild treatment and cost less again.

Common questions

Which parts are pre-owned?

It depends on the build. Usually it is one or two parts, and the rest are new. If you want to know which, ask us about the rig you're looking at.

Will it look second-hand?

Mostly not, since most of the parts are new. A pre-owned part may have small cosmetic marks. The photos on each listing show that exact machine, not a stock image.

Can I upgrade it later?

Yes. These are standard desktop parts, and the parts list on each listing tells you the board, power supply and case so you can plan ahead. We also do upgrades if you'd rather we did it.

Where do the pre-owned parts come from?

Many come through our trade-in programme, where we buy PC parts and systems from people across New Zealand. If you have a PC or parts to sell, get a quote.

How is it packed?

Every rig ships the next working day. We pack each one with an expanding foam bag that moulds itself to the parts inside the case and holds heavy components like the graphics card firmly in place on the way to you.
